One fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish… and I was hooked for life.
Back when the other kids were outside playing, I was inside reading. And writing fiction — in one of those black and white speckled notebooks, long before I ever met a keyboard. And the urge never went away.
Sidetracked for years by a career as a writer/marketing professional (to fulfill that pesky need to put food on the table and a roof over my head), I’ve managed along the way to author award-winning newspaper and magazine articles, write countless brochures and annual reports, contribute to blogs and pen speeches… and even have some fun, most notably writing satirical sketches and musical parodies.
I joined SCBWI (the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators) ten years ago, became part of an extraordinary Critique Group and embarked on my odyssey to fulfill a life-long dream of writing for children.
Currently under contract is a third book in the “Five Star Detectives” series, for middle grade readers. In progress is a historical fiction manuscript for young adults and an adventure series for middle graders. The ideas come fast and furious and, quite simply, I am too excited by the journey to confine myself to one genre.
This journey began with a series of “coincidences” (although I don’t really believe in coincidences). And I can’t wait to see where it goes from here!
